Bolognese Lasagna

Jul 17th, 2007 | By | Category: Beef, Main, Pasta

My gal, Christine Cushing hit a home run with this recipe when she had her Christine Cushing Live show. I had always found homemade lasagna to be a dish that often had varied results…it would flop like a blob upon serving and would be dry the next day.

Say goodbye to frozen lasagna and any old recipe you might be using. This method has no ricotta cheese but uses a Bechamel sauce to act as the glue to this Italian classic.

I can see this method being used to try different types of lasagna….vegetable, mushroom, seafood, or just a cheese & tomato lasagna.

In CC’s show (Christine Cushing), she made her own pasta dough but I was quite happy using fresh made pasta from the grocer. Also, her recipe states that recipe should have 6 layers, whereas I could only get to 4 with the recipe. Four layers was plenty for this stacked, “mille feuille” style lasagna.

I found the flavour to be “Italian”, tasty, creamy, it did not flop on me and it held up well as a moist leftover.

From now on, I’m making lasagna in this style.
